When we are in pain we have difficulty understanding and getting in touch with the healing part of each of us. Pain brings confusion and darkness. Answers that previously worked not longer bring relief or solve the problems that they previously solved. Often we feel lost and alone. Sometimes we call this depression, especially when it lasts for more than days and our lives seem dark. Often others will tell us to think different thoughts or to just do this or that and we will feel better. These are the times that a trusted therapist can help us begin to understand the problem or problems that have led to this path. Through dreams, journaling, and art in addition to talk therapy we can begin to gain a deeper understanding of the roots or our feelings. Over time and with patience we can find our own inner healer.
